Committee Charge
The Campus Sustainability Committee works to promote sustainability at CRC, in accordance with the above definition. We strive to increase understanding of our ethical responsibility to our planet and future generations and to assist the campus in its efforts to create an environmentally just, socially responsible, and equitable academic setting.
We participate in the following activities:
- Develop and distribute "CRC Sustainable Moments" - actionable emails to engage the greater CRC Community in active stewardship of our planet
- Invite students to take the Graduation Pledge of Social Responsibility and CRC employees to take the CRC Sustainability Pledge
- Provide recycling education
- Promote reduced paper, water, energy and resource use in general on campus
- Promote sustainability in campus building design and operations
- Promote and implement annual Earth Week activities
- Encourage faculty to include the theme of sustainability in curriculum
- Mentor students working on sustainability projects
Further Information
- Greening of campus events (in the cafeteria, food packaging, purchasing, etc.)
- Reduced water use in landscaping on campus
- Increased recycling, decreased energy use on campus (energy efficiency, more education on recycling)
- Increased composting
- Continued development of green curriculum

Academic Senate
Whereas, CRC classified staff and faculty recognize our responsibility to conserve resources, such as paper used for flex, travel authorization, and release of liability; and
Whereas, CRC classified staff and faculty recognize that physical storage of paper forms, manual sorting and scanning of forms for electronic storage, and physical processing of multi-copy forms are cumbersome, laborious and outdated;
Whereas, CRC's Vision Statement recognizes our aspirations to be global citizens; and
Whereas, CRC's Values Statement promotes an environmentally responsible academic setting; and
Whereas, the Los Rios Strategic plan embraces a district-wide vision for sustainability and integration of this vision into courses of instruction as well as District business practices and operations;
Resolved, The Academic Senate of Cosumnes River College supports effectively reducing the use of paper forms and multi-copy forms in CRC offices and classrooms.
Resolved, The Academic Senate of Cosumnes River College requests that the Cosumnes River College Administration investigate software and systems to provide a structure to support form management and report back to the Academic Senate by the Spring 2015 semester.
