Asbestos testing will be required for any and all requests to penetrate sheetrock, ceiling tiles, etc. This asbestos testing costs will be paid by the requesting department in order to move forward with original request.
The process is as follows:
- Departments will enter work order via Maintenance Connection for request (hang items, etc.) with budget number as departments are responsible for associated asbestos testing. Average cost of asbestos testing for one location is $600. Departments will ensure area(s) to be tested are properly identified.
- Once asbestos report is sent to Operations, we will log results on a spreadsheet/binder as required by the state and move forward with original work order request. Note: this testing process could take up to one month.
- If area is found to be asbestos positive, remediation will also be the responsibly of the requesting department; cost ranges from $7,000 to $10,000.
