Los Rios College Federation of Teachers (LRCFT) is hosting a FLEX event to inform Los Rios employees about important and urgent Public Service Loan Forgiveness updates and the April 30, 2024 deadline.
The landmark case Weingarten v DeVos revealed 99% of PSLF applications were rejected. Navient and other student loan providers have admitted fault stating Part-Time employment did not qualify for the program when it was supposed to and until April 30 new applications can include past qualifying payments while working for a 501c3 organization.
This means all Los Rios employees might have more qualifying payments than previously accounted for and some might be eligible for debt relief where previously they were told they were not.
