CRC's Faculty and Staff are vital partners in our efforts to support students experiencing basic needs challenges. The ongoing commitment to students' well-being makes a significant impact on their success.
To further assist in this effort, we have created this webpage with resources and information. We encourage you to explore these tools and share them with students who may benefit from our services.

Consider adding information about the Hawk CARES Center to your syllabus!
According to The Hope Center’s article Beyond the Food Pantry: Spreading the Word - Supporting Students’ Basic Needs with a Syllabus Statement and Welcome Survey, there are many reasons to add a statement to the course syllabi.
Oftentimes, campus support services are underutilized due to lack of awareness. Sharing the information about basic needs resources on campus on the syllabus “is an inexpensive, efficient, and effective way to raise awareness among both students and faculty.” As students receive several syllabi during their enrollment, seeing the statement every term reinforces the availability of basic needs services each semester. It is more effective to provide the information via the syllabus versus one time at orientation or other moments when the student is experiencing stressful moments (orientation, financial aid appointments, facing academic discipline).
Sample Statement:
Any student who has difficulty affording groceries or accessing sufficient food to eat every day, or who lacks a safe and stable place to live, and believes this may affect their performance in this course, is urged to visit The Hawk CARES Center, (P48) for support. Furthermore, please notify your professor if you are comfortable in doing so. This will enable them to provide any resources that they may possess.
In addition to the syllabus, providing direct communication to students on the resources available in the Hawk CARES Center could be the difference in your student remaining enrolled and persisting.
